What if the behavior you’re seeing in the therapy room isn’t simply a symptom to manage, resistance to overcome, or a lack of motivation — but valuable information about what a client’s nervous system needs?
In this training, Alyssa Blask Campbell, M.Ed., emotional development expert and co-creator of the Collaborative Emotion Processing (CEP) method, invites clinicians to look beneath behavior through a regulation-informed lens. You’ll explore how differences in nervous system regulation, sensory processing, and neuroception can shape emotional experiences, relationships, behavior, and even what happens between you and your client in the therapy room.
Using Seed & Sew's Regulation Questionnaire, participants will learn a practical framework for recognizing individual regulation patterns — in clients and in themselves — and translating those insights into more meaningful clinical hypotheses. Instead of asking only, “How do we change this behavior?” clinicians will learn to also ask, “What is this behavior telling us?” and “What might this nervous system be trying to accomplish or communicate?”
Drawing from neuroscience, sensory processing research, attachment theory, and Collaborative Emotion Processing (CEP), this training bridges insight with practical application. Participants will leave with new ways to understand what may be happening underneath challenging or confusing behaviors, strengthen co-regulation and the therapeutic relationship, and respond to clients with greater precision, curiosity, and compassion.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
- Explain how nervous system regulation, sensory processing, and neuroception influence behavior, emotional experiences, and therapeutic engagement.
- Interpret Regulation Questionnaire profiles to identify individual regulation patterns and develop meaningful hypotheses about clients' underlying needs.
- Apply regulation-informed strategies and Collaborative Emotion Processing (CEP) principles to strengthen therapeutic relationships, support co-regulation, and improve client outcomes.
- Evaluate how their own nervous system patterns influence therapeutic presence, clinical decision-making, and interactions with clients to enhance reflective practice.
