Do The Work That Lights You Up—With Clarity and Confidence.

Coaching is the work many of us therapists always wanted to do: Positive, powerful, and productive. Working with motivated clients who value your services. Having the freedom to expand your practice. Reconnecting with your joy.

What therapists don't know is that coaching is much less like therapy than we think it is. Calling CBT or Solution-Focused Therapy "coaching" does not make it so.

Furthermore, some therapists think they can add "and coach" to their professional title, because coaching is unregulated.

But without clear boundaries, formal coach credentialing, and coaching-specific competencies, you're operating outside your scope of practice... and in an ethically gray area that could cost you everything.

I help responsible, licensed clinicians get the training, protection, and business support they need to build the practice they've always wanted—confidently, legally, and profitably.

So glad you're here,

Coach Training That Honors Your Clinical Expertise

Education and Credentialing That Therapists Trust

If you've been researching coaching programs, you've probably felt it: that nagging sense that something's... off.

The programs feel too generic. Too "life coach-y." Like they're not designed for someone with your level of training and responsibility.

You're right to be cautious. And you deserve to know:

Coaching psychology is a legitimate professional field. There are peer-reviewed journals, rigorous research, and evidence-based frameworks that get real results. This isn't about posting inspirational quotes on Instagram—this is serious work backed by serious science.

And you deserve training that reflects that.

For over a decade, Growing Self has been devoted to training and supporting licensed therapists in every aspect of professional growth—from clinical supervision (AAMFT Approved Supervisors) to continuing education (NBCC ACEP #7405) to coaching credentialing (CCE RCTP #1051-BCC).

We're a collective of therapists who became proud coaches. We've walked this exact path.

Here's why: Research shows that 50% of clients who seek therapy don't actually need clinical mental health treatment. They're not looking for a diagnosis or behavioral healthcare. They're seeking transformation.

Evidence based coaching psychology was designed for this: Psychotherapy wasn't.

Serving clients through a coaching process is often a more reliable and effective way of helping them get the results they want—but only when it's delivered by a legitimate professional like you.

Someone with clinical judgment. Someone who can assess what they actually need. Someone who understands the difference between therapy and coaching and can navigate it ethically.

That's what this program teaches you how to do.

More importantly? It's just for you. This program is the only BCC Coach Training Program designed by therapists, and exclusively for licensed therapists.

What You Get Here, You Won't Find Anywhere Else

We offer so much more than a credential. With us, you get an entire support system for your career.

✓ 30 education hours = required for your Board Certified Coach (BCC) credential
âś“ 30-50 CEUs = your coach training does double duty, counting as CEUs toward your therapy license renewal*

All delivered by licensed therapists who are both clinical supervisors AND Board Certified Coaches.

You're learning from people who've walked both paths—and know exactly what you need.

Access To Coaching Clients

Other programs leave you wondering: "Where will I get my 30 required coaching hours? How will I find clients? Who will help me when I'm stuck?"

Our 8-week supervised practicum solves all of this.

You'll coach real clients under expert supervision—gaining your 30 required contact hours, working through therapist habits that don't translate to coaching, and receiving feedback that builds true competence.

Best part? Those clients become YOUR clients as you launch your coaching practice.

No other program offers this.

But there's even more: Our support can continue after your certification.

Support For Your Private Practice Success

Niche development: Build specialized expertise in high-value areas
Client referrals: Get direct connection to coaching clients
Peace of mind: Consultation for ethical situations therapists face that civilian coaches ignore

You'll know how to handle dual relationships, licensing questions, and when coaching becomes therapy.

Built by licensed therapists, for licensed therapists.

This is for YOU.

But Why?
Here's What Happens When Therapists Add Coaching

You'll be more effective.

When there's no treatment goal, what do therapists do? We process. Explore. Peel onions. It's interesting—for a while. But it doesn't create the outcomes your clients hired you for. Coaching gives you the framework to deliver on that promise.

You'll be more attractive.

Let's be real: "therapy" can feel clinical and heavy. Coaching feels exciting. In a saturated market with AI alternatives everywhere, coaching expertise sets you apart. The best clients are specifically seeking licensed therapists who coach. Be that person.

You'll be more successful.

Trapped billing insurance? Struggling to fill a self-pay practice? Working with clients who drain you? Coaching credentials remove these obstacles. You can work across state lines, attract motivated clients, charge premium fees, and finally build the thriving practice you want.

You'll be happier.

Sitting with the heaviness of trauma and crisis every day takes a toll. You didn't get into this field to be depleted. Coaching lets you work with more motivated, growth-oriented clients who energize you. You can feel joy in your work again, instead of burnout.

You'll be healthier.

You can't pour from an empty cup—but when you're maxed out seeing too many clients just to survive, self-care becomes impossible. Coaching lets you earn more while working less, giving you time to actually invest in your health, your relationships, your life. You deserve that.

You'll be wealthier.

Top coaches earn $200-$500 per hour. Insurance-based therapists? $75-$150—after hours of billing battles. Coaching credentials let you charge premium rates to motivated self-pay clients who value transformation. More income, less administrative nightmare, real financial freedom.

Advance Your Expertise
Coaching Certification That Actually Understands What Therapists Need

Let's be honest: most coaching programs weren't built for you.

ICF programs? Those are designed for the general public. Career changers. Entrepreneurs. People who've never navigated a licensing board or need to think about dual relationships.

You need something completely different.

That's what the Growing Self Coaching Certification Program delivers.

Our program is designed exclusively for licensed therapists. You'll learn how coaching differs from therapy legally and ethically, how the coaching relationship is different from the therapeutic one, how to foster accountability without crossing boundaries, what to do when clients need therapy instead of coaching, and how to navigate the tricky situations therapists face in this space.

This is real-world application for licensed professionals who want to expand their practice properly, legally, and confidently.

This program shows you exactly how.

On the fence? I get it. I've been there.

"I Was Burned Out, Broke, and Wondering If I Made a Huge Mistake..."

When I became a therapist, I had a big vision—I wanted to help couples, support growth-oriented clients, and build a successful private practice.

But it didn't take long for the reality to hit me. I was burned out, overwhelmed by vicarious trauma, scrambling to attract the interest of prospective clients in an ocean of other therapists, and the thought of dealing with insurance companies made me want to quit. (I think it was the third time I tried to resubmit a rejected claim and realized I would probably never get paid).

The growth-oriented clients I really wanted to work with were looking for more than I could offer through therapy. My therapy clients benefitted, but didn't want to pay for my services. I felt trapped, anxious, and stuck—especially under the weight of all the student loan debt I'd accumulated to get here.

It was a running joke between my husband and I that I should have just called it good with my undergrad degree in biology, and gone into pharmaceutical sales!

But as the bills started piling up, that joke started to seem not so funny anymore.

There were so many moments I wondered, "Did I choose the wrong career path?"

Then, I discovered coaching, and the Board Certified Coach credential— and realized that there was a totally different way of operating as a helper that was in alignment with what my ideal clients really wanted, and the work that I loved to do. It made the medical model irrelevant, and created a clear path to helping my clients attain their desired outcomes. I thought "this is it!"

And yet, I hesitated. I totally saw the possibilities. But I'd have to do coursework, there was a whole application process, and money was tight. Months dribbled by. More months. Things stayed the same. And finally, one day, I realized: This is not going to change until I start doing something different.

I enrolled in a coach training program and was sent back a pile of workbooks and DVDs with the training sessions (how we did coaching certification circa 2014!) I did all the work, passed the exam, got my hours, and got that certification.

And everything changed. It changed my practice because the experience fundamentally changed me, and the way I operated as a helper. I developed a new professional identity. It changed the way I conceptualized my clients. It changed the way I facilitated their work, dramatically. There was so much more movement. More laughter. More clarity. And more real and lasting change — for them, and for me.

My practice took off. I was no longer one of thousands of basically-the-same-therapist. I was a therapist who coached. I could differentiate myself in the marketplace, because I had a better way of helping people get what they wanted.

Learning to coach gave me the tools. confidence, and structure I needed to help clients in a way that felt more direct, and more positive.

I realized that the vast majority of clients that had been showing up for therapy in the past didn't need psychotherapy. They didn't need treatment. They were looking for meaningful guidance to develop themselves and create different outcomes in their lives.

Therapy had frustrated clients like these. Coaching was what they'd wanted and needed all long: We just hadn't had the language for that. I started delivering the results that they were looking for. And that? Well that allowed me to build the practice I'd always dreamed of.

I couldn't keep up with the demand, so I started growing my practice, and creating opportunities for other clinicians who wanted what coach credentialing gave me: great, growth oriented clients who were happy to pay out of pocket for a growth experience that led to outcomes and results.

Coaching unlocked a way for me to attract motivated, inspiring clients and focus on the work I was good at and passionate about. It was also very valuable to them, and worth paying for. We didn't even talk about insurance: This wasn't healthcare. It was development.

Over time, my practice, Growing Self Counseling and Coaching, grew into a successful business that now supports the professional success and satisfaction of dozens of other therapists.

This transformation was more than just a career shift—it gave me freedom, fulfillment, and joy I thought I'd lost along the way.

If you're ready to write your own success story—to create a private practice that works for you and aligns with the life you want—this program is your next step. The tools, support, and guidance are here for you.

I know what it feels like to hesitate. To hold back. To prioritize the wrong things, at the expense of a better future. You know there's more for you. I do too. Let's build the next chapter of your career—together.
